2010 China Skateboarding Review

2010 is very special for skateboarding in China, with lots of events hosted by those big sport brands and competitions going on a more professional and hard-cored track. The term Pro Skater weighed much more than ever before. Skate parks started to burgeon across the country. And of course, parties never stopped. This year has witnessed some ground-breaking happenings, like, Tony Hawk and Shaun White visited China, Woodward China was launched, Converse joined in the battlefield between Nike and Vans. Good news is, those who never gave up can finally make a decent living from skateboarding now. What happened in 2010 was just a beginning. There are much more to come in 2011!

Oakley Air & Style Beijing

Thanks for Oakley’s effort to bring the top snowboarding event to Beijing and China! The experience was fantastic! Entering the stadium, I was instantly overwhelmed by the huge ramp that is 42-meter high. All the international riders are among the tops across the globe now, and everyone was spinning crazily in the air like the helicopter airscrew, what completely stunned the audience in such a cold winter night. Before the fierce fight over the Ring of Glory kicked off, local riders were invited to do a jam session. The year of 2010 really hails a good sign for the flourishing of Action Sports in China, with so many big things happened and happening. To name a few, the opening of Woodward, international surfing festivals in Hangzhou and Hainan, and of course, Air & Style tonight. The future seems really exciting and promising, ain’t it?

Oakley Bring Shaun White to China!

I attended the Oakley presentation at PUNK Club this afternoon, and met a lot of snowboarding friends and media friends. The first half of the event was a presentation about Oakley’s latest revolutionary technology. After that, Shaun White showed up and thrilled the crowd in the basement club. Shaun will go to Beijing’s Nanshan Ski Resort for a ride on Friday morning, and will make his presence at Air&Style on Saturday.
