March 9th is one of the saddest days in Hip Hop. We lost our Bed-Stuy brethren Christopher Wallace aka Notorious BIG. I’ll never forget that day. I couldn’t believe it. All the time BIG referred to death in his rhymes. Coming off the streets of Bed-Stuy is hard enough, but to make it out the hood and rise to the top of the Hip Hop charts and get gunned down in your prime is truly sad. I always think abouts Big’s mother Ms. Wallace. She had to bury her only son and then live on knowing his killers are still out there free. A botched investigation by the LAPD and rumors saying it came from the Death Row records camp all became part of a downward spiral and a empty spot on our hearts. Every time I bump Biggie in my ipod walking down Malcolm X Boulevard in Bed-Stuy, I feel as if I’m on a real hood walking tour. The music is real and so are the people in Bed-Stuy. Today I’m dedicating my Radcollector post to a Hip Hop legend.
REST IN POWER BIG!
