My Friend Tim Opened A Store….

I’ve spent the better part of the last three years hanging out with Tim Gavin. It’s an experience similar to toting a hyperactive 12-year-old mogul around Disneyland. He can’t sit still, gets distracted by pretty much everything and for the most part is completely unpredictable in the boardroom. Yet, for reasons still unknown to me, he has a mysterious savvy for marketing and merchandising—effectively applying his natural antics to both product and campaign. If you skate, you’ve probably worn some of his signature shoes. If you surf, you’ve probably gotten barreled in a pair of his stylish boardshorts. If you’re older, you might have even skated one of his pro boards. Today, if you shop, you’ll probably end up browsing the racks of his recently opened Long Beach retail boutique, Port. Gav, along with Podium pals Jim Leatherman and Juston Tucker own the place. If you find yourself in the LBC anytime soon, go check it out. You’ll be glad you did.
