Dane is calling the shots. Last month when Quiksliver announced the 6 year re-sign of the worlds most fascinating surfer, there was mention of signature products. It’s no secret that Dane isn’t a logo jock, blasting Quik logos on his chest and head, and honestly it’s refreshing. “Summer Teeth” is where Dane’s head is at. No Quik logos, no message, no corporate identity, just hand drawn and photographic tees and beach towels…for now.

Iconic surf film maker Taylor Steele has an ever growing list of media art accolades. His newest Director role as him partnered with film maker Richard Phillips in short film portraits of Sasha Grey and Lindsay Lohan. They were featured as “Commercial Breaks,” presented by the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture, Venice, Italy, June 1 – 5, 2011, concurrent with the 54th international exhibition of the Venice Biennale.

It’s rad to see how many young surfers are filming and editing videos. It’s also rad to remember that when I was a teenager, the only two things that mattered were surfing and sex.
