The dude who makes one of my favorite shows, Epicly Later’d, dug into his crates and gathered an assortment of candid photos. Lots of pictures of rippers doing normal, weird non-skating type stuff. Props to Altamont and Known Gallery. Get ready for more of my iPhone photo-journalism. Yay!
More than 300 people turned out for last Thursday’s Globe x Los Angered shoe launch at American Rag on La Brea – reportedly one of the largest turnout of any American Rag in-store event to date. The Los Angered is the first signature shoe by Globe surfer Dion Agius.
The vibe was one of cool LA style and ease. Attendees were comprised of industry tastemakers and media from surf, fashion, lifestyle and culture. The energy remained extremely high all evening as the music, food (meat pies/sausage rolls) and drinks kept the hard-to-achieve-especially-right-after-work- LA crowd happy. The in–store reception and subsequent after party were the result of a deepening relationship Globe is actively cultivating with the iconic retailer.
The Globe Los Angered shoe is available now at American Rag and other select retailers worldwide.
A wild group show featuring folks from, you guessed it… California! The images were grimy, sleazy, raunchy, filthy, ratty, greazy, as well as lovely, cute, endearing and funny. Attendees consisted of youngsters, OG’s, vandals, artists, rappers, base-heads and RNB stars such as Usher. It was a fun event.
The anticipation and buzz Girl Skateboards built around the release of their new skate film was incredible and immense. The crowd filled up the grand historic Orpheum Theatre on Broadway. Carroll had Tyler, The Creator present the film—that was funny. Did Pretty Sweet live up to the hype? I believe it did. Expect all the fancy high tech camera special effects, and skits involving celebrities that Girl movies are known for. My favorite stuff is the straight up raw skate parts. Parts that stood out to me were Cory Kennedy, Raven Tershy, Elijah Berle, Vincent Alverez, Jesus Fernandez, Kenny Anderson, Marc Johnson and Guy hands-down with the curtains. Over-all another solid production from the Girl/Chocolate empire. I took some pics and included a Youtube clip of the countdown at the bottom. Peep Earl Sweatshirt busting out a lil dance move in the corner.
Cruised by the Berrics for some beer, tacos and skate madness. This was a release party for the new Holiday 2012 colorways for HUF Footwear. L.A. surf punks, Sandy Pussy, played super loud while a bunch of dudes skated their asses off in a loosely organized, yet fun contest. At first it was a ledge battle, then someone threw a couch out there which turned into a couch battle. I saw some kid named Louie blast a huge backside 180 over the couch off flat first try. I took some pics.
Maker of yummy sweet teas, Brisk has been having some cool cultural events. They usually involve art, drinks, music, food and an interesting mix of folks. Their Day of the Dead Celebration was no different. They had the taco truck going, the Dia de los Muertes face painting, dope art and all that. After a few drinks I wandered outside and saw some some little dude with a big skull on top of his head and torso, which seemed fitting. I took some pics for yall to peep. Shout out to Vyal and Bonks.

Ubisoft in partnership with Rock the Vote held the launch of Art of the Assassin, a traveling pop-up art exhibit in celebration of the highly anticipated video game Assassin’s Creed III. The event featured sounds by DJ Skee and a good-looking whiskey and bourbon bar serving patriotic-themed drinks, while offering an eclectic display of artwork inspired by Assassin’s Creed III. The game is on track to be the biggest launch in Ubisoft’s history, set to release on October 30.
Born and raised in Hollywood, California. Content/art producer, journalist and troublemaker. Keenan tried to teach me and my friend how to 360 flip at Melrose elementary one day in the mid '90s. He caught them perfectly with his front foot every time. I still have yet to land one.
