Manfrotto: An Evening To Imagine More
I’m going to try to make a long story as short as possible. A few weeks ago I got a call from a marketing company asking me to be a part of an event in New York City hosted by a leading company in camera, video, and lighting accessories, Manfrotto. As soon as I heard the date of the event, May 11th, I quickly realized that there was no way I could be apart of it seeing that it was the exact same time as SNOWBOARDER Magazine’s Superpark, our biggest event of the year. However, once I learned a little more about the Manfrotto deal, I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. More info about the event after the jump.
Manfrotto hand-picked 4 “photo bloggers” in entertainment, fashion, music, and sports who are considered influencers in their respective fields to be a part of this one night event. Somehow I happened to be the person they sought out for the action sports world. The other photographers include Craig Wetherby, Hanuk “Hanuk” Kim, and Kevin Tachman. Considering that these guys have names like the New York Times, Frank 151, Rolling Stone, and Paper Mag in their list of clients, I am flattered to be a part of this group.
The night is broken up into two parts. The first part of the evening starting at 7pm consists of a panel discussion with VIPs and influencers in the photo world lead by photographer Chase Jarvis. This portion is open to only a couple hundred people in the media and other influencers. The second part of the evening, starting at 8PM is open to a much larger crowd complete with music by DJ Paul Sevigny, drinks, food, and what they are calling the “Vignettes”. Each photo blogger basically got to art direct an interactive set based on their area of expertise for people to come through and get their photos taken throughout the evening by the 4 “photo bloggers”, which will end up online. I’m not going to divulge too much information but I’ve heard what some of the other photographers are doing and it sounds like it should be pretty amazing.
