A while back I had an art show in Costa Mesa which one of my old co-workers at Quiksilver, Beau Irvine, happened to show up to. He came across one of my photos and asked if I would be willing to contribute it to an art project he was working on. Under the name Piety, Beau is collaborating with his artistic friends to make a series of one-of-a-kind surfboards, building the boards himself. I was more than happy to pass along one of my photos and recently I found a surprise in my inbox containing these photos of the finished board. Couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. From afar it just appears to be stripes of colors, but as you get closer you realize it is a beach scene with a lifeguard tower… a picture I took a few years back in Newport Beach, CA. Beau now has this board he called “The Livin’ Easy” displayed at Bear Flag Fish Co… home of the best fish taco I have ever had, located in the same location the photo was taken, Newport Beach.
To see more info on this board specifically and the rest of the boards Beau has been working on check out the Piety website.
More looks after the jump.
