Rome Laura Austin 026

Last week I went on quite the whirlwind of a trip on a leg of the Rome Snowboards movie tour. No we weren’t hopping around from spot to spot on a jet… it was me and 6 dudes in a van from Southern California to Seattle. Check out the gallery and story on SNOWBOARDERmag.com

You can also download Rome’s full movie “The Shred Remains” on iTunes.

Yelawolf & Z-Trip in Aspen

Belly Up _42

Last week was one of the craziest/longest weeks I have had in a very long time. Between the SIA Tradeshow, the XGames, and the Onsnow Demo I barely had time to breathe. But of course intermixed with work, there was partying… this is after all the snowboard industry. One night in Aspen the forces behind Radcollector and Frank151 came together to throw Louie Vito a party at the Belly Up in Aspen featuring Yelawolf and DJ Z-Trip. This ended up being one of the best nights of my whole escapade. Stay tuned for an edit of the whole thing that should be dropping on Radcollector soon. But for now check out more of my photos from the night after the jump.

Burton Opens Craig Kelly Proto Facility

Craig Kelly Burton 82 3

This past week I had the privilege to attend the opening of Burton’s new Craig Kelly Proto Facility. On top of that I got to ride with one of the men who started it all, Jake Burton Carpenter. It was easily one of my best days riding Stowe Mountain Resort, the mountain I grew up riding.

Check out out more photos from my trip and the full story on snowboardermag.com and a big thanks to Burton Snowboards for the invite.

The Best Worst Road Trip Ever

Rad Header

Realizing the road from Yosemite to Mammoth was closed. +7 extra hours. Getting to Mammoth and riding crust. A low morale. One flat tire on the way home from Mammoth. -1 spare tire. Having another tire pop an hour later. $200 for a tow truck. $50 for a scary hotel room. $540 to get all my tires replaced. The story and pictures from the most ridiculous roadtrip ever. Priceless.

Here is another chapter from when I sat down with Ed from Buoloco to shoot the shit about things in the snowboard world. In case you didn’t know, Videograss recently added a whole other dimension to what they have going on. More about that in the video below… But in this chapter I talked to Ed about the changes they have made to their crew. Can’t wait to see what those guys come out with next year.

Back East: First Turns at Killington

Killington Laura Austin 01

I’ve spent the past week in Vermont, taking a little break from SoCal life to visit some friends and family. Definitely nice to be back on the East Coast for a bit. When I got out here a friend mentioned that Killington had just opened. I didn’t have any snowboard stuff on me except for a jacket… but I decided to make do with what I could round up so I could get my first turns of the season in. Check out the full post from the day on SNOWBOARDERmag.com

Buoloco Interview: Personalities in Snowboarding

It’s been a bit since I have done a Buoloco interview, but the other day I sat down and talked to Ed Segovia for a long time about all sorts of things going on in snowboarding. Here is one of the chapters he just put up about what I had to say about the lack of personality in snowboarding these days. Maybe it’s that the newer generation lacks personality, they are scared to show it, or maybe the companies just aren’t concerned with promoting what personality riders may have? It could be all of the above.

The Forgotten/Unforgettable Night

Laura Austin TWS 11

I was just going through some photos from this summer and stumbled upon this gem. How could I forget I had these?! This was the night of Transworld’s “In Color” premiere as well as one of the most extravagant and entertaining drunken rampages I have ever witnessed, courtesy of Hayden Rensch. I might not normally publicize such a thing, but since there have already been videos put out, I couldn’t resist. More photos from the night after the jump. Pre party in black and white… “Hayden Goes To a Party” photo version in color.
