A little while back I had the privilege of venturing up to the Oregon coast with some of the Burton crew to do a shoot for their Fall lookbook and the relaunch of BurtonGirls.com. Seeing as their new site just went live, I figured I would give you a preview of my day exploring the woods and the shore with team riders Gabi Viteri, Kimmy Fasani, and Hannah Teter. It is always cool working with Burton seeing as they are like family, but it was especially rad to do this shoot with an all girl crew from the talent, to the stylists, filmer, and producers. Be sure to check out the full lookbook here and click around the rest of the site to see what these lovely ladies have in store for you.

There are a lot of people who tell me how nice it must be to have a job that allows me to travel so much. I will admit, the travel is definitely is a perk… but it is still a job. As the online editor for Snowboarder Magazine, I bounce from mountain to mountain covering snowboarding… but the thing is, the snow looks the same in Colorado as it does Austria, Chile, Japan, or any other far off ski destination. What I am saying is that if I didn’t make a point to get out and explore, then everywhere I traveled for work would all feel the same… a hotel room, a mountain, some form of trees, snow, and snowboarders throwing themselves off features. When I went to Austria I didn’t want it to just fall into that routine.

This past new years my friend Jared and I decided to do things a little differently, we set out on a five-day road trip from Salt Lake City, UT to Big Sur, CA. Along the way Jared had to shoot a video for this clothing company, SLVDR, so we made frequent stops at anything that looked remotely interesting. Which was perfect for me because while he was doing his thing, I wandered off with my camera glued to my eyeball. Making only one overnight stop in San Francisco, we spent the rest of the nights in a cabin at Big Sur. Besides coming down with food poisoning on New Years Eve, which put us both down for the count that night… it was a pretty amazing trip, Big Sur had been on my list of places to go for quite a while.
Check out my photos and Jared’s video after the jump… they will tell the rest of the story.

Last week I went on quite the whirlwind of a trip on a leg of the Rome Snowboards movie tour. No we weren’t hopping around from spot to spot on a jet… it was me and 6 dudes in a van from Southern California to Seattle. Check out the gallery and story on SNOWBOARDERmag.com
You can also download Rome’s full movie “The Shred Remains” on iTunes.

I’ve been traveling a lot lately so this series of videos struck a cord with me. 3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage… all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food. Give them all a watch, very well done. Makes me want to throw my life into a backpack and hop on a plane.

Z-Trip taking in some of what Exotic City Empire had to offer.
Going on a road trip without a destination can be either the stupidest thing you have ever done, or the most amazing. Well last weekend my friend Zach aka DJ Z-Trip and I went on a little mission a bit outside of Los Angeles without much of a sense of where we were going or what we were doing. The day before we heard that it was going to dump at Mt. Baldy, so we drove up there to go ride, got to the parking lot… and there was barely any snow. This adventure was an attempt to make up for that. Check out the rest of the story and photos after the jump.

Realizing the road from Yosemite to Mammoth was closed. +7 extra hours. Getting to Mammoth and riding crust. A low morale. One flat tire on the way home from Mammoth. -1 spare tire. Having another tire pop an hour later. $200 for a tow truck. $50 for a scary hotel room. $540 to get all my tires replaced. The story and pictures from the most ridiculous roadtrip ever. Priceless.

Mikey and Andy….happy to be riding powder.
Some of the worst choices I’ve made in life have been impulsive…ordering a philly cheese steak sandwich at a sushi joint, dying my hair pink before a family gathering, getting behind the wheel when I knew I was too tired… the list goes on. But buying a ticket to Salt Lake City, Utah the day before I flew out was one of the better decisions I have made. Mikey LeBlanc hit me up the day before he was leaving for Utah telling me that it just dumped out there and that I should definitely come out. Seeing as I’ve never ridden Utah, hadn’t been able to ride powder yet this season, and well…it was an opportunity to ride with Mikey, Andy Wright, and friends….I couldn’t pass it up.
