This past new years my friend Jared and I decided to do things a little differently, we set out on a five-day road trip from Salt Lake City, UT to Big Sur, CA. Along the way Jared had to shoot a video for this clothing company, SLVDR, so we made frequent stops at anything that looked remotely interesting. Which was perfect for me because while he was doing his thing, I wandered off with my camera glued to my eyeball. Making only one overnight stop in San Francisco, we spent the rest of the nights in a cabin at Big Sur. Besides coming down with food poisoning on New Years Eve, which put us both down for the count that night… it was a pretty amazing trip, Big Sur had been on my list of places to go for quite a while.

Check out my photos and Jared’s video after the jump… they will tell the rest of the story.

I’ve been traveling a lot lately so this series of videos struck a cord with me. 3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage… all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food. Give them all a watch, very well done. Makes me want to throw my life into a backpack and hop on a plane.

Everyone I talked to said the six hour drive from Southern California to Mammoth Lakes sucked, but the wide open landscapes made it pretty interesting, for me at least. When I finally made it up to Mammoth, I was greeted by my friends decked out in sombreros, ran to the mountain, grabbed my credentials for the weekend, found the biggest hot dogs I have ever seen, cooked them, and went with some friends to skate the Volcom Brother’s Skatepark that was mostly covered in snow. More pictures after the jump. All the landscapes were shot while driving 80mph….
