It doesn’t matter if you speak Czech. Kooky is clearly the man.

The latest work by Jan Sverak, who is perhaps the biggest film director to come out of the Czech Republic (Academy Award for Best Foreign Film 1996, “Kolja”) is bringing us Kuky Se Vraci, or translated, “Kooky’s Return.”

And I really, really want to see it. Preferably in subtitles, but hey.

“KOOKY´S RETURN (Kuky se vrací) is a combined puppet and live action feature based on a 
child’s fantasy. A seven year old boy whose teddy bear Kooky has been 
thrown away wonders what his toy is up to in the big world out there, imagining 
[that] Kooky [is trying] to find his way back home.
”

It’s set for release in Czech theaters May 20 … hopefully it won’t take much longer to make its way to the U.S.

Can’t get enough of the new Caribou single, “Odessa.” Seriously have this track stuck on repeat lately.

Just landed in San Francisco for the Omar Salazar shoe launch — his first signature shoe for Nike SB, which hit stores March 13th.

Not only did an anonymous traveler “wish to upgrade my flight to the first class cabin (?!),” as the desk clerk at United informed me this morning at JFK — when I arrived at SFO I had a personal driver waiting for me. And now I’m off to Sacramento to skate B Street with Omar, P-Rod, Stefan Janoski, Brian Anderson, Elissa Steamer and a long list of other shreds.

So far, off to a good start.

Governor Paterson isn’t the only New York politician in hot water. Representative Charles B. Rangel is also facing several charges of ethical misconduct. More on Rangel can be found over at the NY Times, but the purpose of this post isn’t to judge or condemn the man — the Times and every other hard news outlet has that covered.

But is anybody giving this guy some respect for his style?  What other senior ranking member of the House is pulling it off like this? Grey pin-striped suit, baby blue bow tie, perfect pocket square, oversized matching rings, slim mustache, handsome hairdo … this guy is a playa!

Would a guy like this knowingly indulge himself with a corporate paid trip through the Caribbean? Nah, not this guy.

Tame Impala is a psychedelic rock group out of Perth, Australia filed under, “We wish we grew up in the 60s.” This music makes me want to get stoned, run barefoot into nature and take weirdly cropped abstract Macro photos of bugs and leaves. A spontaneous fit of expression with Tame Impala as my soundtrack.

So, this is a first look at their new full length album — “Inner Speaker,” out on Modular Records (I’m guessing: their first two mini-releases were distributed by the label), sometime soon.

Reading through their “influences” section of their myspace page, I thought, yeah, that sounds about right:
