Rad Collector - Altamont x Boogie x Murphy's Law Party Recap
Last night, NY’s skate, art, and hardcore scenes collided at the Altamont space for Boogie’s “The Best of Times” show featuring the legendary Murphy’s Law. It had everything a party with these three entities should have: tons of beer, sick photography, and murder in the mosh pits. Murphy’s Law played right on the floor in a basement that felt like it might run out of air at any moment – it was classic NYHC. Shut, Supreme, Frank151, DMS, DQM, LTD, Invisible, and more were in the building. Full photo recap after the jump.

Rad Collector - DC Opens Las Vegas Flagship
DC continues to expand their empire with the opening of their new flagship in Las Vegas. With 365 days of consumer action and tons of foreigners, its good bet the Sin City store will do ok, even if Vegas is in a bit of a slump right now. To celebrate the grand opening this Friday, May 1st, DC is bringing in their super sick moto team: Jeremy McGrath, Ricky Carmichael, Robbie Maddison, Nate Adams, Adam Jones, Josh Hill, Davi Millsaps, and Dustin Miller to party it up at the shop in the Planet Hollywood. Full opening details after the jump.

Rad Collector - Levis Powersliding
This is hilarious! Levi’s is hosting the 3rd Annual Powersliding Championships at the Santa Monica Pier next Wednesday, April 15. What is powersliding you ask? Well if you don’t know its a super rad mix of skateboarding and parkour without all the nerdy parkour stuff where dudes trick off rails and boxes using only their jeans. A look at this video should clear up any confusion.
YouTube Preview Image

The 3rd Annual Powersliding Championships will feature a street course complete with a 40 ft, four story rail and multiple fun boxes, a live show from Matt & Kim, Kogu Korean BBQ trucks and never-shying-from-the-spotlight “celebs” like Jonny Moseley, Wee Man and Kendra Wilkinson, one of Hugh Hefner’s broads. How could you miss that? Full info and another trick vid after the jump.

Back To The Berg

 Back To The Berg
It’s the legendary San Francisco leap, the big four set that became history when Mark Gonzales first ollied it in 1991 for his part in Blind Skateboard’s “Video Days”. Many after him tried, failed, gave blood, survived – or succeeded… Andrew “The Boss” Reynolds flipped it frontside and backside, Chris Cole did a TreFlip and Darrell Stanton switch BS 180′d it. Since the Wallenberg School re-profiled the run up from the nearby Vega Street, the spot, or at least the big four, became nearly unskateable as skaters aren’t able to gain enough speed to jump the 6 x 18 feet. Once again, Thrasher Magazine sets up a roll-in to host the “Back To The Berg” contest at the infamous spot, inviting a good bunch of today’s top notch skaters to jump it. The winning move will be worth 10.000$ while the first girl to jump the set will get a grand. The event will take place on May 30th.

World Quarterpipe Championships

01 April 2009, 20.49 | Posted in Events, contests, snowboarding | No comments »

Last week the world’s most renegade snowboard event, the World Quarters went down on a private slope at Vermont’s Magic Mountain. Something that needs to be seen to be believed, the World Quarters consisted of a booter over a flame pit, a gauntlet flanked by drunk hellions throwing iceballs, tree branches and empty beer cans and finally the quarterpipe itself, a gnarly 10 footer with a log rail set up and zero padding on the deck whatsoever. As you could probably imagine, it was an insane affair, and unfortunately two riders did get hurt. Even so, it was an event that embodied the true soul of shredding: having fun with homies and going buckwild. Was there even a winner? Who cares. Check out this gnarly video put together by the heads at Snowboard Revolution. The World Quarters are thankfully sponsored by Rome, Red Bull and Pat Bridges. Some more pics of the madness after the jump.
