Olympic slopestyle gold medal winner and the new face of snowboarding Sage Kotsenburg was in NYC straight from Sochi to do the media rounds that are going to make him a star. Sure he did Jimmy Fallon and GMA but the interview that most stoked the newly minted celebrity was a no brainer – sitting down with Timbo on dose. This kid exudes nothing but radness, enjoy!

OUTSIDE MAG Rome SDS | F*ck Outside Magazine
A couple of weeks ago Outside Magazine published a hating ass article about the demise of snowboarding. While is might have had some true points, it was written by a skier with a poorly hidden agenda. Not surprisingly, snowboarders took issue. Leading the charge is Rome SDS would have made these awesome stickers and are giving them away free on their Facebook page.

Casey Neistat | Snowboarding NYC

The most surprising thing about YouTuber Casey Neistat’s video of him getting pulled behind his Jeep while snowboarding in one of NYC’s recent snowstorms is not that he got away with shooting it without getting a ticket but that he’s gotta be the only guy on the entire east coast riding a Lib Tech. Either way, its a fun watch.

DSCN1431 Crab Grab x Union Bindings
All snowboard entrepreneurs need to study Crab Grab, a brand that has managed to make boards, boots, outerwear, hats, socks, apparel and now bindings all while only actually making foam stickers. Pure genius. Check out more looks at the 2015 Crab Grab x Union binding after the jump.

dose | Snowboarding: Much More than the Olympics

11 February 2014, 15.23 | Posted in progression, snowboarding, style | 7 comments »

Now that the traveling circus known as the Olympics has had its fun with snowboarding and the world has given the sport the minute of their attention they do every four years it’s time to look at the industry/culture/sport as a whole and decide if snowboarding is in a good place. To attempt an answer to this colossal question, Timbo spoke to a cadre of innovators including Devun Walsh, JP Solberg, Corey Smith, Erik & Bjorn Leines, and Jesse Burtner who all said some things every snowboarder, young or old, should hear.

IPod Beats Shaun White at the Olympics

SHAUN IPOD 540x301 IPod Beats Shaun White at the Olympics
Spoiler alert: that’s Shaun White giving Iouri Podladtchikov the fakest smile in the world as he concedes his Olympic halfpipe domination by finally losing to the Swiss shredder in what will be considered by none to have been an exciting Olympic finale. Not only did White not win, he didn’t even medal, giving up 2nd and 3rd to Japanese riders Ayumo Hirano and Taku Hiraoka respectively. Danny Davis looked strong as hell but had some trouble in the flats while Greg Bretz’ run never quite came together. At least we have a new champ to antagonize and no Olympics to distract us for four more years.

Mission Antarctic

There has been so much focus on the competition side of snowboarding this year that it almost seems like thats all there is to it. Mission Antarctic is the remedy – a balls out reminder that snowboarding isn’t about perfect jumps and sculpted pipes and the ability to “drop out” if conditions aren’t right. This is snowboarding. Thanks for reminding us Xavier De Le Rue.

Burton Air 1 Burton Freelight Pullover Re Issue
As always, Burton has more than a few special treats hidden amongst their expansive lineup for 2015. The first one that jumped out at us at SIA is this rad re-issue of Burton’s original “Freelight” pull over jacket from 1991. The Jeff Brushie designed piece was not only given the technical update to convert it into a superlight shell but this colorway sports a familiar elephant print pattern on the body. We predict this is gonna be a top seller. Take a closeup look at the label after the jump.
