Red Bull Flares Up

Taking a cue from all the flare in skate in recent years, Red Bull took it to the water and outfitted Bruce Irons’ surfboard with a bunch of flares for some waves in the Mentawai Islands in Indonesia. How did the footy turn out? Flarey to say the least.

Globe x G-Shock | Year Zero Premier Party

Last night Globe, in conjunction with G-Shock, celebrated the world film premier of surf film Year Zero in Costa Mesa, California. The industrial warehouse location was transformed into an apocalyptic world, drawing inspiration from Mad Max and HG Wells novel. The space was taken over by beat up cars and stacked crates with a dessert backdrop. Get a look at what went down after the jump.

Vans | Get-N-Classic Surf Film Premiere

Last night we stopped by the Lido Theatre in Newport Beach for the premiere of the first ever Vans surf film, Get-N-Classic. The place was packed and the film was sick. Guests included Nathan Fletcher, Pat, Tanner and Dane Gudauskas, John, Ivan and Nathan Florence, Dane Reynolds, Dylan Graves, Alex Knost, Andrew Doheny and Leila Hurst. Hoods to Woods Granted 501(c)(3) Status

In some great news for the day, the Brooklyn youth organization Hoods to Woods was granted 501(c)(3) non profit status this week. Founded by artist/designer/shredder and Radcollector columnist Brian Deka Paupaw in 2009 after a global shred journey showed him that being on a board can change lives, Hoods to Woods gives kids specifically from Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn the opportunity to experience another world through skateboarding, surfing, and snowboarding.
