Quiksilver x The Standard | Boardshort Vending Machine

Rad Collector - Quiksilver x The Standard Boardshort Vending Machine
This is some inside of the box thinking right here. Quiksilver has installed board short vending machines by the pool at The Standard Hotels in LA, Miami, NY, and Hollywood. Now even if you spaced on packing them you’re still all good to get wet. Each city has a specific colorway and the shorts are meant to emulate a retro design which means they are a bit tight – what else would you expect at The Standard though? In some more good thinking, there is a women’s bikini available in each machine as well so a quick game of “who can get naked and into a suit first” should be more than manageable. Check out the trunks after the jump.

Rad Collector - Billabong x Taj Burrow
Over in the southern hemi, Billabong has just released a collab collection with Australian pro surfer Taj Burrow, called the Taj Co-Op. Way more sophisticated than most would associate with surfwear, the collection spans from high end tees to some pretty ill hoodies and jackets to headwear and accessories like a wallet and a watch. No word yet on whether this stuff will be available globally or only in the Aussie/Kiwi market. More looks after the jump. To see the entire collection go to Empire Ave.

Rad Collector - Grenade x Thrasher Japan Only Release
In continuing the tradition of “Japan gets all the good shit” Thrasher Magazine and Grenade are releasing an exclusive Japan-only collab on the CC935 pipe glove this September. Coming in a nice christmas-y red and green, this is another solid move by Grenade as they continue to push way past being a snowboard specific glove company. A look at the red ones after the jump.

Nike 6.0 Stinkween Bash at the Motel No Tell

30 July 2009, 11.42 | Posted in Parties, Sneakers, artist collaboration, lifestyle | No comments »

Nike 6.0 is going so big in SoCal right now. As we mentioned a few times before, they swooped in and took over a whole motel in downtown San Clemente and turned it into the Motel No Tell, an artist and athlete-inspired respite away from the bro brah craze of the OC’s action sports event packed summer. Last week during Agenda and the US Open of Surfing, they threw down a crazy jammy jam to release the Stinkween Braata with Madsteez and Stink. All stunts were pulled out: They had lasers, a Delorean and a $36,000 sublimation machine so people could do one of a kind sublimated tees on the spot. And since kids can’t drink booze, they even had a candy room so the young’uns could tweak out on suger! Roll the video.

Rad Collector - Ambiguous Holiday 09
Although they are only recently back in the game, Ambiguous is not wasting any time. After a couple of dope 4A artist series drops, they are taking it up a notch for Holiday 2009 with a full collection of knits, flannels, cardigans, even a full-on trench coat. Subtle and classic, the whole lines looks to be both versatile and very rockable. Check out some highlights after the jump.

GI Joe Viral Teaser

29 July 2009, 14.07 | Posted in Skateboarding, WTF, advertising, films, online, videos | No comments »

Some things are better left alone. Check out this cornball viral teaser for the upcoming GI Joe flick, The Rise of Cobra. If the movie is anything like this, like really, if even one of the same people involved in making this teaser had anything to do with the movie, you can pretty much guarantee it’s going to be horrible. Which sucks, because who didn’t used to love GI Joe? Via Shock Mansion.

Pierre André Senizergues’ Board Wall

Rad Collector - Pierre André Senizergues' Board Wall
This past weekend Radcollector got to chill for a Wahoo taco BBQ at Sole Tech founder Pierre André Senizergues’ double waterfront condo-lofts in Newport Beach, California. Needless to say, the place is insane, and although it didn’t seem right to snap mad pics of the crib, this wall was too hard to resist. This is Pierre’s personal wall and conists of all his Sims pro models as well as the boards he grew up riding in France. One old deck had until recently still been used to prop up plants in Pierre’s mom’s garden back home. That’s what you call from plank to bank right?

K2 x Original Penguin

Rad Collector - K2 x Original Penguin
In a collab that doesn’t seem to make much sense at first glance, K2 has partnered with Original Penguin for a board, boot and binding kit for the 2009/2010 season. Maybe it’s because penguins live on the snow? Radcollector is going to the launch event in NYC for this collection tonight so we’ll let you know what the deal is tomorrow. Check out some looks at the Slayblade board, Maysis boot and Auto binding over at HighSnobiety.

Skateboarder Resists Assault

29 July 2009, 11.46 | Posted in Skateboarding, WTF | 3 comments »

This is not the type of stuff we usually post – we ain’t no VladTV – but it felt like everyone who skates should see this. A couple of homies having a rad little sesh and someone has to go and pull a gun on them. Skateboarders are not punks, when will the world learn? Via ThisIsh.

Alpinestars x Starter

Rad Collector - Alpinestars x Starter
Italian motorsport brand Alpinestars has been poppin off in both the streetwear and action sports arenas for a minute and getting better and better at it with each collection. That being said, they are right on time with this collabo snap back with Starter for spring 2010. Part of their Apex Initiative, which includes collabos with Fatlace and Fiberops, as well as Starter, this cap is swashbuckling pinstriped dopeness and will definitely get looks from people who have no clue what Alpinestars is all about. More on the Apex Initiative coming soon. A couple more looks after the jump.
