K2 x Penguin Launch Party

Rad Collector - K2 x Penguin Launch Party
K2 and Original Penguin had a launch party for their board/boot/binding collab this Wednesday at the brand new Standard Hotel in NYC. The party was fire, although perhaps the least bro-brah in the history of snowboarding parties, with top notch accouterments and a high concentration of beautiful people. The K2 crew held it down and Eero Niemela was in the house to co-sign for the Slayblade, which he’ll be shredding this year. “Its a stiff, fast board,” he said, “I’m stoked to be riding it.” The Penguin-inspired graphics, although still kind of random, look good on the product – it will be interesting to see who picks up this setup this year. More pics after the jump.

Rad Collector - Hush DC Howard Dunks
We brought you those sick WE Skate-Hi’s done up by Hush, now check out out his latest creation – the DC Howard Dunks. Wanting to recreate one of his favorite DC kicks, Hush flipped a cowskin suede upper with ballistic mesh and 3M accents, borrowed some eyelets from an Air Max 1 and put them on a Dunk sole. It’s pretty safe to say, this dude is a genius! More looks after the jump.

Today is definitely a good day with Nike SB dropping the extended version of P-Rod’s dope new commercial with Ice Cube, Kobe, Koston, and Theotis Beasley “Today Was A Good Day.” Now there’s only eight more days to wait until you can cop the P-Rod 3 in black, white or red. Peep all things P-Rod right here.

Quiksilver x The Standard | Boardshort Vending Machine

Rad Collector - Quiksilver x The Standard Boardshort Vending Machine
This is some inside of the box thinking right here. Quiksilver has installed board short vending machines by the pool at The Standard Hotels in LA, Miami, NY, and Hollywood. Now even if you spaced on packing them you’re still all good to get wet. Each city has a specific colorway and the shorts are meant to emulate a retro design which means they are a bit tight – what else would you expect at The Standard though? In some more good thinking, there is a women’s bikini available in each machine as well so a quick game of “who can get naked and into a suit first” should be more than manageable. Check out the trunks after the jump.

Rad Collector - Billabong x Taj Burrow
Over in the southern hemi, Billabong has just released a collab collection with Australian pro surfer Taj Burrow, called the Taj Co-Op. Way more sophisticated than most would associate with surfwear, the collection spans from high end tees to some pretty ill hoodies and jackets to headwear and accessories like a wallet and a watch. No word yet on whether this stuff will be available globally or only in the Aussie/Kiwi market. More looks after the jump. To see the entire collection go to Empire Ave.

Rad Collector - Grenade x Thrasher Japan Only Release
In continuing the tradition of “Japan gets all the good shit” Thrasher Magazine and Grenade are releasing an exclusive Japan-only collab on the CC935 pipe glove this September. Coming in a nice christmas-y red and green, this is another solid move by Grenade as they continue to push way past being a snowboard specific glove company. A look at the red ones after the jump.

Nike 6.0 Stinkween Bash at the Motel No Tell

30 July 2009, 11.42 | Posted in Parties, Sneakers, artist collaboration, lifestyle | No comments »

Nike 6.0 is going so big in SoCal right now. As we mentioned a few times before, they swooped in and took over a whole motel in downtown San Clemente and turned it into the Motel No Tell, an artist and athlete-inspired respite away from the bro brah craze of the OC’s action sports event packed summer. Last week during Agenda and the US Open of Surfing, they threw down a crazy jammy jam to release the Stinkween Braata with Madsteez and Stink. All stunts were pulled out: They had lasers, a Delorean and a $36,000 sublimation machine so people could do one of a kind sublimated tees on the spot. And since kids can’t drink booze, they even had a candy room so the young’uns could tweak out on suger! Roll the video.

GI Joe Viral Teaser

Some things are better left alone. Check out this cornball viral teaser for the upcoming GI Joe flick, The Rise of Cobra. If the movie is anything like this, like really, if even one of the same people involved in making this teaser had anything to do with the movie, you can pretty much guarantee it’s going to be horrible. Which sucks, because who didn’t used to love GI Joe? Via Shock Mansion.

Pierre André Senizergues’ Board Wall

Rad Collector - Pierre André Senizergues' Board Wall
This past weekend Radcollector got to chill for a Wahoo taco BBQ at Sole Tech founder Pierre André Senizergues’ double waterfront condo-lofts in Newport Beach, California. Needless to say, the place is insane, and although it didn’t seem right to snap mad pics of the crib, this wall was too hard to resist. This is Pierre’s personal wall and conists of all his Sims pro models as well as the boards he grew up riding in France. One old deck had until recently still been used to prop up plants in Pierre’s mom’s garden back home. That’s what you call from plank to bank right?
