After what feels like years of rumor and speculation, not to mention several “closing” parties, Max Fish is officially closing up shop in the LES. Apparently they are not moving to Vegas but instead across the river to Brooklyn. As a final, final hurrah for the bar, they’re hosting an art show with some NYC fixtures like Ricky Powell, Dave Ortiz, Craig Wetherby and more. Hit the jump for full details.

Even though NYC’s Max Fish is a mere shell of the epic meeting place it once was, it still has a place in the hearts of every drinking skater or skating drinker that has ever passed through the city. To celebrate its heritage as well as keep its memory alive for when the watering hole inevitably goes to the big party in the sky, AMMO has released a cruiser and regular deck inspired by the Fish’s bathroom. Last night at Max Fish was the release party for Tyler Bledsoe’s new pro shoe with Etnies. Free PBR flowed while Tyler and crew raged with some bottles in the back of the Fish. Peep a couple party shots after the jump and stay tuned for more NYC Maloof madness.

Embattled dirtbag drinking enclave Max Fish, which is actually currently shuttered due to an underage drinking violation, has been on the ropes for the last couple years with rumors of a full shutdown, a move across the street, or even a relocation to Las Vegas. The bar got a reprieve from their original closing date of January 31 but only for one year. There is a petition to save the Fish and artist Mr Kiji contributed the above homage to the cause. Good news out of New York City. Max Fish is set to stay open for another year! The legendary L.E.S bar will not close its doors at the end of the month due to an amazing 1 year lease extension negotiated by owner Ulli Rimkus. Order us a Bud!

Yes, its true. LES staple and skate haven bar Max Fish is set to close on January 30th. After twenty one years, the news is proof that the office shirt wearing yuppie fucks have finally ruined the Lower East Side. Oh well, all good things must come to an end, but don’t think the Fish isn’t going to go out with a bang.

In news that should appeal to our boozehound demographic, one of the less than 30 pairs of Max Fish x etnies kicks that were released as part of etnies’ ongoing “New York Pack” of collaborations this winter has ended up on ebay.
