Collegiate Skate Tour is a skate contest series for student skateboarders that provides incentive for them to pursue higher education AND keep skateboarding with their friends. The Skate Tour is meant to bring skaters together all over the country with a positive message. The event in Astoria Park was a great time for all and some of the best local rippers showed up. It was all going down at Astoria Park in Queens, NY on October 5th, 2013. Thanks to all the amazing sponsors: Tribe Skateboards, SHUT Skateboards, Belief NYC, 5Boro NYC, Ditch Skateboards, and NYSkateboarding.com. Also supporting were Skateboards.com, BuySkateShoes.com, LRG, Diamond Supply Co., Skull Candy, HB Super, Herschel Supply Co., Primitive Apparel, DVS Shoes, and Matix Clothing. DJ Jenius provided the tunes and contributed to the good vibes.
There was a lot of hyphy action happening at the event, but taking home the top prizes were:
1. Brandon Johnson
2. Rene Searles
3. Justin Hunter

1. Matthew Cartledge
2. Humza Deas
3. Andrew Valencia

Big shout out to students that traveled from North Carolina, New Jersey, and Michigan!

What kid’s not a decent skater these days? The standard at any park or spot is enough to make a grown skater feel like putting his whip back in the cupboard. Thalente Biyela’s no exception, but he’s got an inspirational story to tell that has piqued the interest of some of skate’s favourite veterans. Check out the trailer, and promote the cause through their Seed & Spark page.

SHUT Skateboarder and all around super kool kid Ryan Hamburg of Poughkeepsie, NY, shredding Woodward. Ryan is like an old soul in a kids body. His composure is modest, humbling and genuine which is rare for such a talented young Jedi. Be on the lookout as he transcends his effortless steeze to the streets when back from the PA woods.

This SLIMplistic wallet is slightly larger than a single credit card, sitting only an 1/8 of an inch thick and weighing just half an ounce. Don’t let it’s size fool you, though. It’s designed this stylish wallet to hold everything you’ll need – from as little as a single card to over 10 cards plus cash, receipts and more. The easy-access thumb slot makes swiping your most frequently used cards a breeze, and when not in use, the SLIMplistic leaves an almost unseen imprint in either your front or back pocket of your skinny skateboard pants. Be the first to get down with one through Kickstarter and support my homie Justin Heister with this amazing innovative product. FYI Justin is also Owner and Art Director of my favorite Skateboard Mag… Focus!
