Bird’s Eye Boardshop Brooklyn

Not all the news in NYC is bad, just before the hurricane Brooklyn got a fresh addition to the shred scene with the opening of Bird’s Eye Boardshop in Bushwick. The core shop, owned by Steven Reaves, has been doing online business for a couple years and finally made the jump to brick and mortar. With a collection of our favorite brands including Ashbury, Poler, Coal, Herschel, Holden, and Crab Grab plus many more, its definitely the go to spot for all of North Brooklyn and beyond. FTC x Karim Mayfield

FTC has teamed up with San Francisco native & undefeated welterweight boxer, Karim “Hard Hitta” Mayfield for a limited edition deck and t-shirt. ellesse x Special | The Assist

Italian shoe brand ellesse, who re-issued their classic 80’s basketball-turned-skateboarding shoe The Assist early last year, are continuing to work with the model and are now releasing a version in collaboration with Milan shop Special. The new version of the original red, white, and blue colorway now includes ostrich and patent leather and drops tomorrow in Italy. Check out some more looks after the jump.

Burton | Redesigned Flagship SoHo Opening

Burton Snowboard’s flagship store in NYC reopened last night with a special VIP reception and meet and greet with team riders. Terje Haakonsen, Mikey Rencz, Mark Sollors, and Ethan Deiss came thru to check out the store’s full renovation with an opening suare put on by TheGoodLife! featuring music from Jasmine Solano and DJ Mirandom, brews from PBR and even an authentic NYC hot dog cart. Bringing a vintage Vermont feel using reclaimed resort materials and lots of wood, the new store has about 25% more space and also features a board press along with all of Burton, Gravis, Analog, and Channel Islands’ 2013 product. Labor NYC

Opening just in time to service the hordes of skate rats who will be descending on the newly refurbished Nike Skatepark at Coleman Park comes Labor, a new shop on Canal street between Ludlow and Orchard. Hidden beneath a sign for the now defunct Moon Coach, Labor is run by James Rewolinski and carries a nice selection of hard and softgoods with a particular nod to local brand 5boro. Jake Lamagno, Dylan Rieder, and Steven Ditchkus’ rad new store The Hunt NYC is now open for business. Tim Brodhagen caught up with the trio for an in depth look at the concept shop’s offerings which include found items from the darker side of americana as well as Lamagno and Ditchkus’ one of a kind original pieces like a murdered out gator head, custom furniture, and more. The Hunt NYC is located at 72 Orchard Street in the LES.

Last Friday night was the opening of The Hunt, a new shop in NYC that specializes in one of a kind vintage Americana items and oddities at 72 Orchard Street in the LES. Shop partners Jake Lamagno, Dylan Rieder, and Steven Ditchkus hosted the opening which was filled with tons of unique pieces and photography from Craig Wetherby and Jimmy Fontaine. The Hunt NYC

Multi-talented skateboarder, snowboarder, and artist Jake Lamagno is opening a new shop in NYC called The Hunt. A project with Steven Ditchkus, The Hunt will specialize in one of a kind vintage Americana items and oddities, meaning real human skulls, full taxidermied bears, as well as artwork, furniture, and anything else that passes Lamagno and Ditchkus’ curative smell test. Pro skaterboarder Dylan Reider has also joined on as a partner and all three will be at the NYC opening tonight at 72 Orchard Street in the LES which also features a joint exhibit by photographers Craig Wetherby and Jimmy Fontaine.
