Alpinestars Surfboard Covers

Italian motorcycle racing brand Alpinestars is running an interesting installation of five hand stitched surfboard covers at The Closet, a shop in Costa Mesa, California. The covers are meant to convey the similar enthusiasm felt by motocyclists and surfers as well as to demonstrate the brand’s support of surf culture. All the pieces of the surfboard covers are taken from actual Alpinestars leather racing suits. Check some detail shots after the jump.

Chrome NYC Flagship

Chrome SF continues to grow and have just announced that they will be opening a flagship store in NYC this month at 238 Mulberry Street in NoLita. To celebrate the opening on August 26, John Cardiel (aka DJ Juan Love), Bobby Worrest, and John Igei will be on hand along with Chuey from Chuey Brand and David Shadi Perez who will be sewing Yankee and Met colorway cycling caps and hosting a silent photo auction respectively. On Saturday August 28, Chrome will open to the public with free food, The Gotham Girls, and Free Shadi t-shirts with the first 100 purchases. You can reach the shop at 6467927835.

Rust Heap BMX Bike

UNIV has more heat this summer, this time on the BMX side of things. The Encinitas shop organized an epic custom BMX bike collabo with Verde, Odyssey, Duo, Defgrip, Ludwig Van, G-Sport and The Laboratory called the Rust Heap. The Rust Heap, named for its unique coat that makes it appear as if it had been salvaged from a long sunk freighter on the bottom of the ocean will not be sold but will be on display for shredding at UNIV all summer. SHUT Skates will be hosting the release party and book signing for legendary NYC graffiti artist STAY HIGH 149 this Thursday, July 1 at their Skate Mechanics shop on Orchard street. Legend status is tossed around a lot these days but from his prolific ups to his lifelong struggle against personal demons, this man is truly deserving of the honor.
