Denver is Awesome; and Weird

17 January 2014, 13.06 | Posted in snowboarding, tradeshows, weed | 1 comment »

With the SIA tradeshow coming up we’re getting super excited to pack up and spend some quality time in Denver. There’s lots of reason we like Denver, the least of which is certainly not because weed is legal! Did that sentence even make sense? Anyway, while we were planning out our trip we came up on this pretty funny story about some of Denver’s little known facts, which we encourage you to check out on Boston.com. Ps it’s funnier if you’re high.

17 January 2014, 12.45 | Posted in interviews, snowboarding, videos | 1 comment »

Darrell Mathes has been one of our favorite shredders for a minute. He’s a chill dude, has crazy style on a snowboard, rips on a skate, and never ever seems to be looking for attention. Watch this rad Vans Introspect min doc and see how he manages to do it all. Enjoy.

BangingBees | DIY Swiss Edit

16 January 2014, 11.23 | Posted in snowboarding, videos | 1 comment »

As soon can see in this dope new edit from BangingBees, Switzerland isn’t just about alpine pow and dogs with booze in their collars, sometimes its also about making a sick ass backyard park and riding the f out of it. Interesting fact: backyard park is called “petit snowpark artisanal” in French, ha! Riding by Julien Cavé-Tubery, Maxime Bérard, Hugo Serra, and Pierre De Le Rue.

Method | Nick Lipton Soapbox

14 January 2014, 19.05 | Posted in snowboarding | 1 comment »

Our last post about Shaun segues perfectly into this one. If you don’t read Method Mag, subscribe immediately. Based out of Europe where political corrected-ness and asskissing are still at tolerable levels, the mag is one of the best in snowboarding. Each issue they give someone the opportunity to rant about something for a section they call Soapbox and this month it’s YoBeat’s Nick Lipton with a piece entitled “The Industry is Dying and That’s OK.” Shit is harsh truth but needs to be read by everyone. Hit the jump for the full piece.

Shaun White x The New York Times | No Bueno

14 January 2014, 14.43 | Posted in interviews, snowboarding | 1 comment »

We have nothing personal against Shaun White. We aren’t necessarily down with some of his choices but we can’t front on his ability and we also know firsthand that he’s not really a giant douche. He’s a funny dude with a lot of talent that has played his hand pretty well. However we couldn’t help but cringe in reading his cover story from this Sunday’s NY Times Magazine. Not only do they play him out on the cover by calling him The Flying Tomato but the interview makes him come off like a selfish, money loving, materialistic dick that would rather make money than work with his family or have any real friends. The worst of many moments is Shaun explaining that his band makes him feel like he’s back living in a van when in reality the band was actually living in a van while he was posted up at the Bowery Hotel in NYC. Read the entire story here. This one’s not going to win him any new fans.

#TBT | Sean Black in Brooklyn

09 January 2014, 12.30 | Posted in snowboarding, videos | 1 comment »

We’re not sure if we’re supposed to be doing #TBT’s on the internet or just on Instagram but this one was too good to pass up. We didn’t even know Sean Black shredded Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn two years ago, that’s our favorite spot! The snow keeps melting so quick this year that we haven’t had a chance to session it so thanks to YoBeat and WeSC for the throwback.

Danny Davis’ Peace Park – Full Length

06 January 2014, 15.52 | Posted in snowboarding, videos | 2 comments »

The full length video for Danny Davis’ Peace Park project with Burton and Mountain Dew came out over the holidays and was kind of lost in the shuffle. But his vision of fusing elements from both slope style and half pipe competition formats could, along with Travis Rice’s backcountry format, push competitive snowboarding out of the increasingly boring rut it’s in. Definitely give this a watch.

Pat Moore Is Not Who We Think He Is

03 January 2014, 11.42 | Posted in craze, snowboarding | 2 comments »

In some interesting news for the New Year, we did a Google search of our friend Pat Moore today and were shocked to learn that Pat isn’t who we thought he was. While we believed Pat was one of the gnarliest shredders of his generation with superhuman abilities in every area of snowboarding he was in fact a pretty ineffectual Republican member of the Alabama House of Representatives, and a woman. Pat, we thought we knew ye.
