Day 1 of the first ever Maloof Money Cup in New York City went off in pretty epic fashion despite grueling heat and the lack of any place to buy a beer within miles of the event. P-Rod blazed through qualifiers in first place, Torey Pudwill won the Best Trick Contest, and every rad skater in the world, literally, was in attendance. The throng of kids who, in pure New York fashion, would run up on every skater and demand an autograph, sometimes even while they were in the middle of a qualifying heat, showed without question that skateboarding in NY has reached an all time height.
