With a lot to show and prove at the all new Burton US Open at Vail, Burton has announced the entertainment lineup prior to the event, something they were reticent to do in VT as demand for the shows could frequently outweigh Stratton’s capacity. Scheduled to play free are Santigold, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Scratch Bastid, and Cosmo Baker, which should provide for a lively time. Hit up Burton’s US Open site for show times and details.

Last weekend the 30th anniversary of the Burton U.S Open popped off once again under the always variable spring conditions at Stratton Mountain. The Radcollector crew ventured to Vermont for a couple days of riding, partying and catching up with old homies. During our trip we got the chance to take a couple of runs with Jake Burton and blessed Louie Vito, Laura Austin, A-Dog and a bunch of fans with the Stance x Radcollector snow socks. To top things off Method Man & Redman closed out the Open with a smoked out concert. Hit the jump to peep a gallery of photos from our editor Brad Clarke with some additional flicks by Michael Cohen.

On the second weekend in March 2012, snowboarding’s longest running contest turns “Dirty 30.” The Burton US Open is one of the most storied events in snowboarding and has been traditionally held at Stratton, VT for most of those 30 years. A lot of things have happened at the USO: old school downhill racing, the first machine-dug halfpipe, keg parties, snowball fights, mini-riots, people dangling from trees above the halfpipe, drunk people did a lot of dumb shit and some of the coolest stuff in snowboarding history–sometimes those last two are one in the same. The US Open wrapped this afternoon with Kazuhiro Kokubo and Kelly Clark winning the halfpipe in a big victory for the letter K. It was Clark’s 4th halfpipe win and Kazu’s first, although his win was viewed by some as a slight against Louie Vito who took second despite throwing three double corks. You can see it in his face on the podium. The big winner on the day was Peetu Piiroinen who clinched the BGOS title, the TTR crown, and the best trick in the pipe for a cool $103,000. Ch-ching. A pic of the ladies podium after the jump.
