Inspired by vintage athletic shoe styling, the vibrant Running Red aesthetic presents a combination of premium suede and lightweight nylon uppers stacked atop outsoles which utilize waffle tread traction as a tie back to Vans heritage. The Vans OTW Collection proudly presents advocate Lupe Fiasco’s signature Stovepipe colorway this holiday season. Fiasco’s inspiration for this project references ‘90s hip-hop culture and fashion, an aesthetic he refers to as “Native Tongues”. The shoes colorway was influenced by ‘80s skate and BMX culture and sports a bold red and blue color palette along with lightning bolt embroidery. In 2011 Vans OTW and The Blackouts (Ako and Atiba Jefferson) set out to create a free reggae compilation featuring music from VP Record’s vast catalog of artists. VP Records houses the best in reggae and dance hall music and Ako and Atiba spent weeks carefully selecting each artist for this vinyl compilation.
